October 22, 2014

I asked her for some ideas for Christmas...
Makeup (mascara, eyeliner, blush), nail polish, earrings, more "over the knee" socks  (I got her a pair and she loves them!)
Pillowcases  (she likes Holiday/seasonal pillowcases....)  BUT!!!!  On this missionary momma's group I am in..... I WON 2 Christmas pillowcases for Abby and her companion!!!  The gal making them lives in Salt Lake and is going to hand deliver them to her in December!   SSSHHHHHHHHH  DON"T TELL HER!  It is a surprise!

Oh,, she also told me to start buying up lots of Hallmark Christmas movies so we can watch them when she comes home NEXT Christmas!

She would love more letters from everyone!  She also likes receiving talks from past General Conferences or whenever.

Brenda Cummings went to Temple Square and found Sister Tuckett and Sister Lopez!

Here are some pictures that Sister Tuckett sent today...

Some of these were from a couple months ago.... Her old companion is in them.

Apparently they LOVE Farr's Ice Cream!

These are from her MTC days... since her camera card got lost in the mail she is slowly collecting pictures from other missionaries who were there with her.

This one is her first companion at the MTC who went to Canada for her mission
and the other 2 sisters (in front) are at Temple Square with her!

Outside studying!

Your guess is as good as mine!

Sister Freeman went to Canada and the other 3 went to Temple Square!

Good Afternoon!

So this past week has been crazy cool!

I feel like I have learned so much about who I am and my purpose as a missionary!
But before I move ahead of myself last Wednesday my zone went to Park City. The Harmon's (Mission Pres. 1 counselor) hosted our little get together! Such a wonderful view of the mountains but we took a survey about our personalities (there are four different types) Red- dominate, aggressive.... Blue- the do gooder, White- peacemaker and yellow- fun, loving! Well I am white then blue apparently! So fun to see the sister's outcomes! Then we had hamburgers and a talent show! After that we watched 2 talks from Conference, cooked s'mores and had a short testimony meeting! It was a blast!

Sister Lopez is the Spanish Coordinator and plans certain meetings and activities so this past Saturday and Sunday they had a Spanish Marathon. It's where the Hispanic sisters get together and try to contact as many Hispanic contacts as they can! Anyway, where I am going with this is I was on exchanges with Sister Tanner and we were at map desk and this man walked in. I thought he looked familiar and I said hi, but Sister Tanner felt like we should talk with him (David) so she stopped him. We talked for a bit and asked why he came to visit SLC. He said that he called for a BoM a year ago and said he loved it so much, he wanted God in his life but didn't know where to find Him. But 1 year later he decided to come visit SLC and when he got off the bus the sister who answered his call 1 year ago called and asked how he was doing. He said that he was in SLC and she said no way me too and they talked for a bit then he ran to Temple Square so they could meet! He arrived last Tuesday and I have seen him on the square ever since. He was at church on Sunday and is getting baptized Oct 31!!!!!!! Wow what a wonderful story!
We met another man that evening his name was Martin, he was telling us about his life and things. It was very sad but it just showed me how much faith he has in the Lord that things will be ok and that he will be able to see his children again. We felt the spirit so strong!

Well to end the week with a bang! We got a text Saturday evening saying we all needed to be in the NVC (north visitors center) at 6:45. I said what if David Archuleta came... we both laughed and well in Sacrament meeting they announced who was coming to our mission fireside.... David Archuleta! Wow so cool!

It was a Question and Answer type thing! We asked him questions about the mission and about after the mission and about his career.  It was very informative.  He sang three songs:  “Glorious” from Meet the Mormons, “Hark all Ye Nations”, and “I’m trying to be like Jesus!”  And at the end we sang our mission song to him! Best song ever! I cried the first time I heard it!

What a wonderful week.  So Sister Lopez will either go outbound or train next transfer... it's bitter sweet! I would love to be her companion again next transfer but the Lord has other plans!

I hope all is well, the church is true, I have seen many manifestations of it this week!

I love you all and miss you tons!!!

Hi everyone!

So sorry about last week! Just ran out of time!

Happy Birthday, Sister Tuckett!!!!

Yes, I got to "talk" to her via e-mail today... but she had so many emails to go through she didn't have time to write a letter!  She told me she will write a letter tonight and send it so I can post it on here. I hope she does!  So, she told me to take bits out of the emails from today and post those along with the pictures.

She got a new companion last week... Sister Lopez.  She loves her!  She might only be with her for 1 transfer though since next transfer Sister L. might either train or go outbound.  She said "She is great!  She works really hard and is super sweet!"  Both of her companions have been from Mexico but they both speak English also.

There is an area called the "fleet assignment" in her mission where they take care of the church vehicles... keeping track of them, assigning them out, washing them.. all in a dress!  She thinks she might have a good chance of being able to serve there since only sisters who drive can do that assignment.  We will see!

I sent her some money to buy herself a cake or pie for her birthday.  One of the sisters said she would bake her a cake also.. so tonight they are going to have cake, pie and ice cream to celebrate!  They decorated the apartment with the "Happy Birthday" banner and balloons I sent her.  Her zone leaders came in this morning while she was exercising and sang happy birthday to her!

This was her zone last transfer.

This was her zone!

Sister M., Sister Tuckett and her District leader and companion.
Last transfer.  ( I need THIS transfer now!)   ;-)

She and Sister W. go on exchanges Monday-Friday while their companions
go to language study class for English.

This is someone they taught via Skype who was baptized!
They are in Utah teaching someone in California!
Technology!!!

I have been asking her to get a picture with the Christus...
They have to do any pictures before Temple Square opens so they don't look like they are tourists!
You can tell it is before hours because the cleaning crew is there!  ;-)

Her new companion!  Sister Lopez.
This must have been taken this morning because she has one of the necklaces on that
I sent her for her birthday.... because you KNOW she would never open up her presents early!!!

Closer view!  Don't they look happy!
I love to see the missionaries smiles!  The light of Christ shining through!

Well, I guess that is about it until I get that letter in the mail she is SUPPOSE to send!

She said to tell everyone "THANK YOU" for all of the birthday cards and gifts!
