Good Afternoon!
So this past week has been crazy
cool!
I feel like I have learned so much about who I am and my
purpose as a missionary!
But before I move ahead of myself last Wednesday my zone
went to Park City. The Harmon's (Mission Pres. 1 counselor) hosted our little
get together! Such a wonderful view of the mountains but we took a survey about
our personalities (there are four different types) Red- dominate, aggressive.... Blue- the do gooder, White-
peacemaker and yellow- fun,
loving! Well I am white then blue apparently! So fun to see the sister's
outcomes! Then we had hamburgers and a talent show! After that we watched 2
talks from Conference, cooked s'mores and had a short testimony meeting! It was
a blast!
Sister Lopez is the Spanish Coordinator and plans certain
meetings and activities so this past Saturday and Sunday they had a Spanish
Marathon. It's where the Hispanic sisters get together and try to contact as
many Hispanic contacts as they can! Anyway, where I am going with this is I was
on exchanges with Sister Tanner and we were at map desk and this man walked in.
I thought he looked familiar and I said hi, but Sister Tanner felt like we should
talk with him (David) so she stopped him. We talked for a bit and asked why he
came to visit SLC. He said that he called for a BoM a year ago and said he
loved it so much, he wanted God in his life but didn't know where to find Him.
But 1 year later he decided to come visit SLC and when he got off the bus the
sister who answered his call 1 year ago called and asked how he was doing. He
said that he was in SLC and she said no way me too and they talked for a bit then
he ran to Temple Square so they could meet! He arrived last Tuesday and I have
seen him on the square ever since. He was at church on Sunday and is getting
baptized Oct 31!!!!!!! Wow what a wonderful story!
We met another man that evening his name was Martin, he was
telling us about his life and things. It was very sad but it just showed me how
much faith he has in the Lord that things will be ok and that he will be able
to see his children again. We felt the spirit so strong!
Well to end the week with a bang! We
got a text Saturday evening saying we all needed to be in the NVC (north
visitors center) at 6:45. I said what if David Archuleta came... we both
laughed and well in Sacrament meeting they announced who was coming to our
mission fireside.... David Archuleta! Wow so cool!
It was a Question and Answer type
thing! We asked him questions about the mission and about after the mission and
about his career. It was very
informative. He sang three songs: “Glorious” from Meet the Mormons, “Hark all Ye
Nations”, and “I’m trying to be like Jesus!” And at the end we sang our mission
song to him! Best song ever! I cried the first time I heard it!
What a wonderful week.
So Sister Lopez will either go outbound or train next transfer... it's
bitter sweet! I would love to be her companion again next transfer but the Lord
has other plans!
I hope all is well, the church is true, I have seen many
manifestations of it this week!
I love you all and miss you tons!!!
