The Temple Square Mission!
July 2015

Good afternoon everyone! This past week went by so quickly!

I heard some news from Emmett ID! William B. (who has been investigating the church for the past 2 years) has a baptismal date for August 15!! I am so happy! His wife Michelle, is less active but has always wanted to get sealed in the temple! They have 3 boys and they are super cute! I miss them! But anyways, Sister Pritchard said that they all went to church together for the first time since she has been there. When I was there half of them would come when they did end up coming. God is aware of all of his children. It just takes some time for us to understand what he wants for us. I am so excited for that beautiful family!!

Sister Nevil and I had the opportunity to watch 17 Miracles this past week, I cried like a baby of course. And it was even more sensitive since we serve and live where they sacrificed everything to come here. To build a temple, to live their faith without persecution, to do the will of God! Sunday, the talks were focused on how we can be modern pioneers to leave a legacy and be an example for those that come after us! They did so much for us, spending 40 years building the Salt Lake temple so that we could have those blessings.

It was Sister Nevil's 20th Birthday on Pioneer Day! We went out to eat with a member and her mother (Sister Nevil's mother) threw her a surprise party. We did not expect anything! And we also had the opportunity to take them around on a tour. We both announced this past Sunday! I spoke in English and Sister Nevil translated in ASL. It was fun! I also ran into some friends from back home!

This past week I have been studying more about faith in Jesus Christ! I love Alma 32 and Ether 12! They both talk about faith and with it you can accomplish anything with the Lord's help! All you need is a particle of faith and with it you experiment and allow the Lord to help you strengthen it as you act and follow his commandments. As humans we seem to make things harder than need be! Geez, that is something that I have recognized since I have been out! Humility is the key to happiness!

I  hope you are having a wonderful week! Remember life is short, it can be challenging but those challenges are what prepares us to live with God again! Have faith and act, enjoy the journey!

Love  you!

Hello Everyone!

Another week has come and gone! Hope that you all are enjoying the rain back home! I miss the storms!

It is really slow this summer! It makes me sad! We still have lots of Asians visiting but not many others! We haven't been getting many ASL (American Sign Language) tours like we thought we would but when we do, we drop everything and run! lol! It is fun having an ASL comp! In our studies she has been teaching me some of the basics and ultimately by the end of the transfer I will learn how to pray and bear my testimony!

So our LA Ashley (scared to go to the temple) told us that she met with the Bishop and has now decided to get a temple recommend! That is the first step! I am hoping that she will be willing to go with me next Spring when I go back to Nampa to visit! Time will tell! :)

So I had an amazing miracle this past week! I was standing in the South Visitor's Center, where 2 young girls (14 and 16) came up to me and asked how do you become a member? At first I was hesitant, but Jenna (14) said that she had some friends that are members of the church and she could see that they were happy! Long story short, her mom said that it would be fine to teach her! She seems like a golden investigator!

Also news from outbound! Inez's (my recent convert) little brother Michael got baptized this past week!! Blessings!

I love you all, have a wonderful week!

Hello!

So it is the start of a new transfer! I am with Sister Nevil again! We were talking this morning about how we will be together for 3 months! Crazy, the last time I was with a companion on my mission that long was when I was in training over a year ago. Oh how time flies!

We got to attend Elder Packer's funeral this past week. It is really sad to see them go and to be in the same building with the Prophet and Apostles. I mean really, what mission has the opportunity to talk about the modern prophet and then get to see him. I honestly cried, the spirit and love was so strong as we listened to their testimony of Eternal families. What an amazing experience. :)

So the past couple of weeks we have been praying to find ASL people so that Sister Nevil could sign with them and we just found another new investigator from chat last night that speaks ASL! And we also got an ASL referral! Our investigators from Africa are hanging in there as they wait for the mission to be reopened! They want to get baptized, they are so ready! They pretty much teach us the lessons when we call! Good people!

So I am back in West Gate! It is nice that we are able to be inside with the A/C but still be in contact with the guests! This summer is really slow, we have tons of sisters but hardly any guests. We still get a lot of people from China but we cannot speak Mandarin! I wish! We have millions of Mainland China referrals, we are just waiting for China to open up so that we can teach them! We are always praying for the government to soften their hearts!

We have been running into lots of RM's lately! We love seeing them and that they are still serving in a different capacity! I am looking forward to doing the same after my mission!

I have been studying in my personal study more about being diligent and meaningful prayer! I have never loved reading from the scriptures more than I do now, on the mission! It creates wonderful life lasting habits. I am sad to come home, I want to perform the best that I can with the time that I have left.

I love this gospel, I know that it is true! I love you all!
