Sister Tuckett's 1st real e-mail!

June 11, 2014  Wednesday

Hello!! Just a short summary. I love my companion Sister Freeman. She is from the north of England. We have grown a lot closer the past couple of days. She is super sweet!! My district is amazing, The 3 Elders  and my companion are leaving for Canada next Tuesday while the other two sisters and I have another week which will be the visitor's center prep. The other district in my zone left for NYC yesterday. We miss them so much!! But today we have two more districts joining our zone. They are entering the MTC today and they are all going to serve in the Salt Lake City East mission!!! So even when we head out for SLC we could possibly see them if they visit Temple Square with investigators!! So fun!!

So much to say but really don't know where to start!! Well last Wed they just threw us into teaching each other, wasn't ready for that at all. We have 2 classes a day which are 3 hours per class. It's fun and I am hardly ever tired during them but it hits me when we are having personal study or companionship study. Things were good.  I have only cried once, Friday was a hard day for me. I felt like I couldn't express myself while we were zone teaching. Ugh, my companion and teacher helped out a lot.

So Sister Freeman and I are teaching  2 people. There is Douglas and Patty. Doug and his wife are on disability so they stay at home. We have taught him 4 times now and he came to church on Sunday!! Yay! He is easy going but we think he is going through the motions but there are a lot of things we need to work on to help him. We aren't being bold with him like we should and he is not keeping his commitments but we will get through! Patty lost her son a couple of years back and she is just curious but she told us that she is looking for hope. We meet with her again tonight!

Classes - wow, I can never sit through a 3 hour class but I am always excited to go and I participate. I feel like I have been learning a lot and that's with the help of Heavenly Father without his help I would be a mess.

Geoff and Aunt Sarah, the food is ok, they have really good salads and BYU creamery ice cream!! We were able to go to the temple this morning it was great!!

Exercise - we have just been going to the field to play sand volleyball and well, ummm it was elders vs. sisters and I was at the net with Elder Hardwick (also from England). I tipped it and he tried to block it and came down on my foot. His toenail scratched my foot and now its swollen and black. Gross. It hurts pretty bad and I have a small limp when I walk but we had a good time. I am wishing I brought more clothes! haha

I have gained a better relationship with Heavenly Father since I have been here. I feel the spirit so strong and I don't know if I will want to leave or come home. lol jk  It will be hard though, I really do love it here.

Elder Cook spoke last night for the devotional. He talked about missionary work and how we need to be converted before we can help others in their conversion.

Sorry my emails will be sloppy since we don't have a lot of time to write, but we are doing laundry so it gives me some more time. I hope you are all having fun! I enjoyed the story about temple square missionaries, I told the other companionship and they loved it. They said that will be us!

It's hard trying to get the hang of teaching. I am the quiet one in class and on Sunday we had Sunday school it was over Alma 32 about having faith and I hadn't talked and Brother May, the 1st counselor said, "Sister Tuckett hasn't said anything, let's give her a turn" and I talked about plants and how I sing and talk to them to help them grow and I compared it to Christ, how He loves us and talks to us to help us grow closer to Him. Again in Sacrament Brother May came up to me and said, "you are a rose bud bloom this week." and I could tell that I began to bloom yesterday. I LED the discussions instead of just ending with my testimony. I am getting better but it will take time. Wow we my district have to sing in Sacrament on Sunday and give a talk about repentance... and teach Sunday school over Alma 32 like the other district. Well I should go!

Love you guys!!!

I will try and do better with writing letters!!!!!!!!
