Sister Tuckett arrived at Temple Square on June 26, 2014.
Here is a group picture of her and the other new sisters along with President and Sister Poulson.

Sister Tuckett with her trainer, Sister Moran from Mexico.

Best Trainer Ever!

Hello Everyone,
I made it to Temple Square yesterday morning! We had R.S (over the Restoration- so good we were are crying) it was the best way to start off the mission then we talked with Pres. Poulsen and his wife and the APs. Mom guess what!?! You know the blog that you had me read about Sister Briggs and her experience in the TMSQ Mission.... well she is one of the APs. She is crazy sweet and amazing!

So after we met them we had to fill out paper work and have an interview with Pres, wife, and APs to get to know us and to be guided as to whom our trainers were going to be. The mission office is in the Square so we see the Pres all the time which we are so lucky, other missions don't have that opportunity. We didn't meet our trainers till 1:30- we were anxious waiting. So there are 15 new sisters that came in with me. My friend Sister B. and I were the last two left to find out so they asked us both to come up to the front and had the last two trainers come up and we had to close our eyes and the APs placed us in front of each other.

My trainer is from Mexico! Her name is Sister M. She is the sweetest, most kind, helpful, patient... well I could go on. She is perfect for me. She has a strong testimony and I love that she demonstrates exact obedience. The MTC was a bit more lax but I am learning!

It's hard but I have the best Mission. The sisters know all the other sisters and some of them ~ ok ~ all of them come up to me and introduce themselves and ask you are the one from Oklahoma?? Hahaha they know about me before they meet me. I feel really loved and blessed to be with such an amazing bunch!

My P-day for the next 6 weeks will be on Fridays! So I would love to hear from everyone!

I live in the Apartments right off TMSQ right next to the Conference Center!!  The atmosphere is just amazing! We taught Patricio from Mexico last night on the phone. The conversation was in Spanish so I introduced myself and at the end I bore my testimony about the Book of Mormon! He told us that we were special and he's getting baptized July 12!

I just want to leave with you that I know that God lives and that He loves me and that this mission was meant for me. I've been told it's really hard but worth it. I know that temples are extremely important and that God loves us so He placed us in families to have happiness in this life and the life to come. Families can be together FOREVER!

I love and miss you all!

Love Sister Tuckett

P.S. Best trainer EVER!!

June 20, 2014

I hope all is well!! I miss everyone!!

The past couple of weeks have flown by but it seems like I have been gone forever! Things are going good, my companion left Tuesday morning as well as the Elders in my district for Canada. Things haven't been the same since they left.

We have gotten pretty close with the new districts in our zone so that's been nice. Doug got "baptized" and Patty well we didn't have hardly any time with her. She interested but didn't know if it was true or not.

Ever since I started Visitor's Center Training things have been crazy! I love it so much though. I miss my old teachers, but the Sisters are amazing too. We went and visited TSQ  (Temple Square) Wednesday morning and had a short tour and meeting. It was a good experience for us.

Later we began chatting with others online. At first I wasn't excited but when we started I didn't want to stop. It was hard seeing others struggle and looking for help but there were also those who were just looking to cause contention which we call trolls. A couple of the sisters encountered those.

It has been a good experience here at the MTC. I have grown a lot spiritually, emotionally and mentally. There just has been so much to do and not enough time in the day to accomplish it, it seems. I know that I have been blessed and serving and will continue to be blessed.

I know that I have learned a lot but don't know what to say. Well Sheri Dew gave a devotional on Sunday about grace and on Tuesday Elder Ballard came and talked about missionary work and be not ashamed of the gospel. To be bold and not be scared to share do to the fact that others will reject it.

The new mission presidents are coming tomorrow so the campus is crazy, preparing for the general presidency so everyone is saying that Pres. Monson will speak on Sunday since we have already had 2 speak from the 12.

One of the elders from my district almost went home because he missed his girlfriend but he stuck it out. I am glad I didn't leave anyone behind!!

Also my district sang a musical number last Sunday and I was called to give a talk about Repentance 1 min before I had to speak.  Also my district had to prepare a lesson over Alma 32 concerning Faith. We compared it to the Relationship with Christ. It turned out well but we couldn't decide on how to teach it until the night before. We all had different opinions on the symbolism.

After church we had interviews and Pres. J. said that he loved me and that I have very inspired thoughts and that I was beautiful. Before I left he told me that if I wasn't a missionary that he would hug me, he almost did. Brother M. is so amazing, he's the 1st counselor and he's so loving and helpful. The zone says that I'm the "favorite", I am the one who mostly sits back and thinks rather than talking a lot like the others but we all learn differently.

I know I was called to serve on Temple Square for a reason but never knew why until last night when my teacher told me a story about how they pick sisters to serve in TSQ. She said that Elder Perry said that "they look at your smile and see the Light of Christ. They look at/in your eyes and see your testimony of the Atonement of Jesus Christ." Wow the whole 21 of us began to tear up. It gave us a glance of why we were called to serve at VC (visitor center).

We have been practicing on how to greet people and talk with them to meet their spiritual needs. My other two companions did most of the teaching but I always shared an experience or my testimony that seemed to bring the spirit. Elder Cook from my first week devotional shared a story about how he taught 90% of the lesson and his companion 5%. He thought that he was the one helping others be baptized. But as time went on the converts expressed that the main reason they joined was because of the Elder who bore his testimony. That story made me feel better in that we all teach and bring the spirit in a different way. One of my new companions loves to talk which is nice when I really don't know what to say until close to the end when I see the whole picture and share something that God would want them to hear, but I know with time (I HOPE) I can be more talkative when teaching lessons or giving tours to help both members and non-members come closer to Christ.

I love and miss you all!!!

Be safe and have fun!!!

Love Sister Tuckett :)

Sister Tuckett's 1st real e-mail!

June 11, 2014  Wednesday

Hello!! Just a short summary. I love my companion Sister Freeman. She is from the north of England. We have grown a lot closer the past couple of days. She is super sweet!! My district is amazing, The 3 Elders  and my companion are leaving for Canada next Tuesday while the other two sisters and I have another week which will be the visitor's center prep. The other district in my zone left for NYC yesterday. We miss them so much!! But today we have two more districts joining our zone. They are entering the MTC today and they are all going to serve in the Salt Lake City East mission!!! So even when we head out for SLC we could possibly see them if they visit Temple Square with investigators!! So fun!!

So much to say but really don't know where to start!! Well last Wed they just threw us into teaching each other, wasn't ready for that at all. We have 2 classes a day which are 3 hours per class. It's fun and I am hardly ever tired during them but it hits me when we are having personal study or companionship study. Things were good.  I have only cried once, Friday was a hard day for me. I felt like I couldn't express myself while we were zone teaching. Ugh, my companion and teacher helped out a lot.

So Sister Freeman and I are teaching  2 people. There is Douglas and Patty. Doug and his wife are on disability so they stay at home. We have taught him 4 times now and he came to church on Sunday!! Yay! He is easy going but we think he is going through the motions but there are a lot of things we need to work on to help him. We aren't being bold with him like we should and he is not keeping his commitments but we will get through! Patty lost her son a couple of years back and she is just curious but she told us that she is looking for hope. We meet with her again tonight!

Classes - wow, I can never sit through a 3 hour class but I am always excited to go and I participate. I feel like I have been learning a lot and that's with the help of Heavenly Father without his help I would be a mess.

Geoff and Aunt Sarah, the food is ok, they have really good salads and BYU creamery ice cream!! We were able to go to the temple this morning it was great!!

Exercise - we have just been going to the field to play sand volleyball and well, ummm it was elders vs. sisters and I was at the net with Elder Hardwick (also from England). I tipped it and he tried to block it and came down on my foot. His toenail scratched my foot and now its swollen and black. Gross. It hurts pretty bad and I have a small limp when I walk but we had a good time. I am wishing I brought more clothes! haha

I have gained a better relationship with Heavenly Father since I have been here. I feel the spirit so strong and I don't know if I will want to leave or come home. lol jk  It will be hard though, I really do love it here.

Elder Cook spoke last night for the devotional. He talked about missionary work and how we need to be converted before we can help others in their conversion.

Sorry my emails will be sloppy since we don't have a lot of time to write, but we are doing laundry so it gives me some more time. I hope you are all having fun! I enjoyed the story about temple square missionaries, I told the other companionship and they loved it. They said that will be us!

It's hard trying to get the hang of teaching. I am the quiet one in class and on Sunday we had Sunday school it was over Alma 32 about having faith and I hadn't talked and Brother May, the 1st counselor said, "Sister Tuckett hasn't said anything, let's give her a turn" and I talked about plants and how I sing and talk to them to help them grow and I compared it to Christ, how He loves us and talks to us to help us grow closer to Him. Again in Sacrament Brother May came up to me and said, "you are a rose bud bloom this week." and I could tell that I began to bloom yesterday. I LED the discussions instead of just ending with my testimony. I am getting better but it will take time. Wow we my district have to sing in Sacrament on Sunday and give a talk about repentance... and teach Sunday school over Alma 32 like the other district. Well I should go!

Love you guys!!!

I will try and do better with writing letters!!!!!!!!
