Hey There!
So we have had some interesting experiences this week!
So D_____, she is the one who had been wanting to get baptized but would not stop drinking coffee. We talked with her this week and her date is set for this Saturday ~ Jan 10! Well she had her interview last night and she is getting baptized! The Elders told her that she can (can't ??) due to the coffee thing. The coffee is a prescription for her Diabetes. We asked President today and he said that it is fine but to help her find another solution. Anyway, we will have a baptism to end off this great transfer!!
We have another man that we are teaching and his name is T____ and he has the same thing as D_____. He loves the church and the teachings but doesn't seem to give up one thing! His is smoking and he has a mental illness and the Dr. said that using a vapor cigarette will help ~ so it helps but not harmful... I don't know about something like that. LOL He just kept justifying why he needs it. Anyway, we both became sad and I felt like I should talk about the Savior. In a nutshell ~ I said that the Savior suffered and went through things that He didn't really want to go through but He loved/s us and he kept all the commandments that God gave him. The next thing we hear is.. "Ok I will stop smoking."
We looked at each other? What, what did he just say? Granted we were on the phone so he couldn't see, but we asked him again and he said that he wants to keep the commandments and will stop smoking!! What a miracle. He changed so quickly. Not only are the commandments a way of protection but it shows Heavenly Father whether or not we love him and want to follow him.
We had a recent convert talk with us yesterday, D____ is his name, but he was just struggling, like God wasn't answering his prayers. We talked with him for sometime and in conclusion he said that he needs to be more grateful and to be teachable. Prayer became his main focus! It is such a special opportunity to have time to talk with Heavenly Father and to share with him about our day, our struggles, our gratitude, and much more.
And lastly I love you ALL, this work is great and I am honestly sad that I will be home in less than a year. Just because the tag comes off doesn't mean we are done with this work!
Love you!
Called to Serve
Sister Tuckett!
It sounds like she will be going outbound in a couple of weeks! We will find out for sure next week.! IF she calls me.. then she is!!! She will get to call me for 5 minutes to tell me where she will be going and give me the mission home address. When they go outbound, they only get to take one large suitcase and a carry on. She will be gone for 3 months so she will have to pack light!
She said the Square is really quiet now.. especially in the evenings.
Just got a handful of pictures from her today..
She and Sister Ennis were covering the Beehive House.
Not much going on... ;-)
I told her I didn't recognize her outfit... she said she got it for FREE! I asked her how and she answered...
"we have a DA DI mission di if you don't want something let the sisters get it before you give it to di"
So, now that you have read her response I was like... "What???"
Translation........
"We have a DA DI..." (Deseret Apartments Deseret Industries) Deseret Industries in Utah is like Goodwill or a thrift store.
So,, if the sisters don't want/can't fit their clothes anymore, they see if someone wants it before they take it to DI!
We had an Elder Cook here in our ward. I would take pictures and videos and send them to his mom. She and her family went to Temple Square and she found Sister Tuckett and sent me a picture!!!
Thank you Katie Cook!
