Hi everyone! This week has been cold and rainy!  (She asked if she could go buy a raincoat!)

So we had exchanges on Saturday and I was with my District leader and I learned so much from her as well as the district meeting we had!

So we talked with Carrie and she has picked a date with sisters she met last week in California! September 13! So if all goes as planned we will have 4 baptisms this transfer! The Lord works in mysterious ways!

I met an older man named Ross the other day and he is a descendant from Brigham Young! I talked with him about The Beehive House and what I learned about his great...(idk how many) grandfather. It was so cool! Aubrie, so sad that you missed it! I will tell you later!

We have gotten so many referrals now that we are serving here at the Beehive House! We met a young man, Taylor, his wife is inactive but he knows a lot about the church and was so prepared! We gave him a Book of Mormon - he is GOLDEN!

I love you all and I hope you are all serving the Lord in your own ways!

Called to Serve
Sister Tuckett!!

************
Sister Tuckett gave me a short list of ideas for her birthday that is coming up!

She said to make sure everyone is wearing their seatbelts!!! (After the sad news of a sister here in Oklahoma losing her life in a car accident.)  She said she wants everyone here when she gets home!

***Just a reminder***  She LOVES to get handwritten letters in the mail so she can read them through the week.  She only has 2 hours or less on the computer and she can't print things off to take with her.

Sister Tuckett's cousin,,, Merissa,,, found her on Temple Square!

I received a text on Saturday,,, I didn't know the phone number. All it said was "Look who we found!"  I eventually received the picture and a note saying "She is darling!"   What a great surprise!!!  My girls here think it is kind of weird that strangers are going up and asking to take a picture of Abby!  They don't understand that mom's live for pictures of their missionaries!!!!  I thought it was great that this mom took a picture of my missionary and then sent it to me!  She has a son serving in California on a mission so she knows what I am going through!
(I found out from Sister Tuckett that this sister is her district leader and she served her "outbound" in the same mission/district as this couple's son in California!)

August 20, 2014         Lots of pictures this week!!!!

Hi everyone! Hope all is well!

I love serving at the Beehive House! Things are passing by so fast and learning lots!

I have been sick, the cold and flu have been spreading like wildfire here in the mission and it is not even winter time. I have gotten a lot of rest and just taking it easy the last couple of days. I used to love to stay at home when I wasn't feeling well, but now I cannot stand it. I want to be out and about!

A couple of the sisters have gone home early because of previous injuries, so sad, as well as major illness.

The work is moving forward and I make new friends everyday! We are a really close mission and very hardworking!

We have 3 men that come to the square everyday! Jon, John, and Bob! Bob has been a member for some time and Jon, he was baptized earlier this year and the gospel has helped him gain a testimony of the Plan of Salvation and Eternal Families. His daughter passed away at the age of 33. And John (he is homeless) he is recently attending church again and taking the discussions. John went through a rough time and is now trying to change his life!

It is wonderful to see how lives can change through the Atonement of Jesus Christ!

The mission, everything as a whole is going great! I love it! So happy I had great examples throughout my life and helping me decide to serve!

Thank you all!

Hello everyone!! It has been a crazy week!

Today I will just give you a summary of the past week!

We have gotten lots of referrals!! Yay! And lots of tours in the Beehive House!

Our shifts are 3 hours twice a day almost 4 days a week! And one nice thing about serving there is that we get a free Lion House roll like every time we walk in! So yummy!

I love my new district! We get a long so well and we love to tease one another. I've heard that those who serve in the Beehive become super close with their district and zone!

We are teaching a lot people! And there are lots who have baptismal dates! We are actually going to a baptism this Saturday! Her name is Annery, we gave her and her family a tour about one month ago.

This morning we were able to go to the SLC temple! It was great to have a short time to be in the Lord's House. Temples are a blessing! Today before emails we gave a tour to a family who spoke Spanish and you could tell they felt the spirit!

I still have a lot to learn but it is a fun spiritual journey!

I love you all!

No new pictures this week.... :-(

Extra Bits and pieces….

She spends 19 hours a week at the Beehive House, the rest of her working hours are spent on Temple Square.  She said there is no “down time” until she goes home in the evening and then she has to cook meals for the next day, shower and get to bed.   On her p-day she is on Temple Square in the mornings until 1:00, then has the rest of the day to do laundry, shopping, writing letters, cooking.

I asked how she liked the Beehive House… her reply:

“I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I can just stay there forever!!”

"I bought some new shoes that are so nice and comfy and my knees and back have stopped hurting.”

Sister Tuckett has me print off all of her e-mails/letters out of her e-mail... Look what I happened to find!!!!  Pictures!

Wednesday

I hope all is well! We have had so much rain the last couple of days! On Monday the power went out ! And Sister Moran and I ran home, we were soaking wet!

Well I am beginning my second transfer today! I am still with Sister Moran (she is will most likely be going outbound after she is done training me-so 6 more weeks!) We have a new assignment..... here you go Aubrie!!! The Beehive House!!! Yay super excited and guess what is even more exciting??? My VC (Visitor Center) companions from the MTC will be serving there too! So excited! Since today is p-day I will have to hurry and read about the history before we start tomorrow!!

Wow, I know I have only been here of 6 weeks but transfers are so hard, seeing all the sisters go home and serve outbound! My ZL and District leader left today :( I will miss them but we also got new sisters 11 I believe! The work is moving forward! It is amazing to be serving in the shadow of the temple!

So yesterday and today have been cRaZy! The temple is now open after 6 weeks so tons and tons of weddings! But on the other hand there are more people to talk to!!

So Carrie is still figuring out a baptismal date due to the moving situation and Robert (I began talking to him about 1 month ago but he finally answered the phone) He attended church this past Sunday and is meeting with his local missionaries!! We talked with him this morning and he told us that every time he reads the Book of Mormon he feels at peace and that it is true!! We talk with him on Friday and will ask him to be baptized!

Missionary life is definitely an adjustment but the most amazing thing ever!! I would like to share a poem that a sister shared in one of our district meetings:

The Highs and Lows

"A mission is a strange experience
It is a trial and a test

A mission throws at you the worst
Yet, teaches you the best.

I've never been so happy,
I've never been so depressed.

I've never felt so forsaken,
I've never felt so blessed.

I've never been so confused,
Things have never been so clear.

I've never felt my Heavenly Father so distant,
He's never been so near.

I've never been so discouraged,
I've never been so full of hope.

I feel I could go on forever,
I think I've come to the end of my rope.

I've never had it quite so easy,
I've never had it quite so tough.

Things have never been so smooth,
Things have never been so rough.

I've never traveled through more valleys,
I've never ascended more peaks.

I've never met so many nice people,
I've never met so many freaks!

I've never had so many ups,
I've never had so many downs.

I've never had so many smiles,
I've never had so many frowns.

I've never been so lonely,
I've never had so many friends.

Boy, I hope this is over soon,
Man, I hope this never ends."

I love this poem because I can relate but the thing is, is that we can over come opposition with the help of the Lord and in turn our negative thinking can be replaced with positive thinking!!

I know that my Heavenly Father loves ALL of us and He has a plan!
Love you all!

In a different e-mail she sent:

I ask way too much of you! But could you keep sending me recipes? I hate eating the same thing over and over again.  We do all the cooking and preparing at home and just warm it up on the square. We don't have much time to prepare and eat at the same time.
(****SO IF ANYONE HAS SOME EASY RECIPES THEY WOULD LIKE TO SEND HER.....  HER ADDRESS IS ON THE RIGHT SIDE!****)

Thank you for the package with the talks and candy! We love it!

I hope things are going well and I am surprised you are not on the computer emailing me back but ya p-days are Wed. now!!

So much better than Fridays.

Well now I will have time for letters but not emails. We only have 2 hours to email you know how slow I read and type..... and when we had p-day on Fridays we would shop for 3 hours so it's 6 when we get home and then we would go to a performance with our zone so we got home at 9:30 then we would plan and get ready for sleep but now we don't have that pleasure. So yay, I will actually have a normal p-day.
I will write home! love you all!! Talk with you next wed!!
Thank you for every thing!! I love you!
