Well, time is running short. I will be home before you know it.

I am excited but also sad that I will be leaving the place I called home for so long. I am excited to see all of your smiling faces! 

I have also caught a cold this past week and it is so draining. 

We have a lot of departing classes and assignments that they ask us to do to help us better be prepared for when we come home. One of things that we have to do is a one year macro plan for our life. I finished mine today. It was fun but a bit scary thinking that I will be living a new life. WE had to come up with goals for social, education/employment, health, spiritual and such. :)

Well, it is short yes. But I will share more of the whole 18 months when I get home and have time to share!

Hello Everyone! 

 

So David, one of mine and Sister Campelo's investigators from last transfer, is getting baptized this Saturday! For her whole mission she has had baptisms but none of them she was able to teach them on the Square. She has been praying that she would have one before she goes home (she goes home with me). And She is getting one! We are so excited that we get to go and see it. He has come so far the past few weeks. At the beginning he said that he would never get baptized but over time we could see the spirit working with him. He is so great! A gift for Christ this Christmas season.

Christmas on Temple Square has been really slow. I remember last year it was a mad house. I give it a couple of more weeks as it gets closer to Christmas there will be more and more people. I am so excited. I didn't remember how hard it was to talk to people. All they want to know is where the bathroom is and what line to stand in lol. But we have had some really good experiences. 

Teaching Center Is good, I have been finding some golden people who are willing to learn and some strange calls too. I could see myself in a call center, it is actually really fun... with sharing the gospel that is. :)

William is from Mexico (he joined the church about 2 years ago) and we met him on the square with his friend Victor. They were so friendly, we talked for some time when he opened up to us. He doesn't want to get married, he has a "to do" list of things he wants to do before he even thinks about it. By the time we were done he said that he would pray to do the will of God. So we are planning on calling him this week to see how it went!

Ending the mission strong! We had 3 baptisms in the past 3 weeks! Karla, NIlsa, and Bibi! 

Coming home, never thought in a thousand years that I would be where I am now. It came too fast. I will miss it but the things that I have learned and applied the past 18 months have not only changed me but those around me. The gospel gives us so much peace and joy in this life, I wouldn't understand more of God's plan if I hadn't decided to serve. I have so much faith in the future.

Today they had a zone activity.  They sang songs to people in an assisted living place and then ate pizza.  She enjoyed going to the assisted living.

So I hope things are going well with Grandpa.  I want to come home and share mission stories with him.  I am sad and excited to come home.  I feel like I can and need to learn so much more.  I am not perfect that is for sure.  We had Christmas training.  I am happy I will get to experience it for 3 weeks! :-) 

Words cannot express how much I love this gospel. ALL he asks of us is to give our will.  It is like picking up a bucket and pouring the blessings over yourself. All he asks us, is to pick it up...

One thing I have learned but imperfect at, is serving others - forgetting myself.  What are you doing to make it to the highest kingdom??  "The things you take for granted, someone else is praying for."  Share and live the gospel.  We made that promise at baptism.  How do you show appreciation for the Lord's Atonement? "LIVE YOUR LIFE SO THAT THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW HIM, BUT KNOW YOU, WILL WANT TO KNOW HIM, BECAUSE THEY KNOW YOU."  WHAT will you give CHRIST this Christmas?!?  I will give my life in his service, for that is what I promised at baptism.  I know God has a plan for you, for me.  I NEEDED this mission.  It has forever changed my future!  "God is good ALL the time.  All the time God is good."

From email today::::

I asked her what she did for Thanksgiving: 
"We went to this older couples house and we set up all their christmas decor. it was fun and we had a yummy thanksgiving meal. :) I am excited about the lights."



I was up at the hospital rehab with her Grandpa Ker and couldn't email very well again.  Last week was pretty much no emails because I was in and out talking with nurses and Drs.  (That is why there was no blog last week.)

Her mission president let her call Grandpa Ker this week.  They talked for about 20 minutes. 
"President gave me a blessing after I called gpa and in it it said... that part of Gpa's mission was to get me on a mission. and he did. I cried."

I wasn't getting her emails!  I finally got some this evening.

 

Tomorrow is her LAST transfer!!!! 

She has a new companion.  Sister Ruiz - her 5th Spanish companion!

Her new p-day is Thursday.  She said she will send the blog letter then.

So This is it, this is my last transfer as an official, set apart missionary of the Lord Jesus Christ. It came too fast. I feel like I have only been out 6 months not 18.  The mission isn't the best 18 months OF my life ~ but FOR my life. It has and will forever change the way I live, the way I see others and the way I serve. It is just a glimpse of the Savior's love for us. So small but so rewarding.
 

I was in teaching center this past week when a man named Herold called in. He talked about how religion has changed his life. He asked some questions about what we believe and he said that he believed what was being taught. He wants to learn more and accepted the local missionaries to come and teach him! He really wants to know the will and plan of God. Miracles happen!
 

I am sad to come home but a part of me is happy that I have an opportunity to apply the things that I have learned and help others around me.
 

Repentance means change, and isn't that what life is all about... Change?? Change to become like our perfect example the Savior! He is ALL the difference.
 

I cannot believe that I have another Spanish companion! Sister Ruiz is my 5th one but 3rd from Mexico! It is a sign that I must learn some Spanish! One of my goals when I get home... learn Spanish!
 

One of things that I have learned these past 18 months is that the Book of Mormon can answer any question, any doubt or concern you have. It the anchor of a firm testimony of the Savior.

So hello everyone! It has been some time since I last responded! 

I am doing well! I have learned so much this past transfer from the Sisters that I had the opportunity to serve! It has gone by way too fast! The mission has come and gone. I could seriously stay for another 6 months and be totally fine! 

Something that I have learned these past 18 months is that I will not know or learn everything that I expected to while I am here. The things I have learned will help me in the future. The things you learn on a mission seriously is a foundation, I am a better person because of this decision I made to serve the Lord and his children. I wouldn't change it  for anything!!

It has been an interesting past week! Last night after planning the fire alarm went off in the apartment complex...  I opened the front door to see sisters running by and screaming! Haha "Oh sisters I think we should probably go outside." They thought I was joking but no! So we grabbed our jackets and purses and ran out the door. Long story short some sisters were trying to bake some bread in the microwave! Lol the fire department laughed so hard but nothing caught fire it was just the heavy smoke! It was an eventful evening! 

I will miss the work. I know that I will be able to continue it when I get home but it just won't be 24/7. I will have to make some changes and adjust to the new journey ahead!

So, I am stressed! I found a gray hair!!  No, it is/was not one I already had.  :|

 

So, I met a girl named Rachel in the North Visitor's Center.  She is less active but wants to come back to church.  I shared Alma 36:3

with her and she started crying and said that she would go back to church, pray and read her scriptures ~ CPR! 

 

Alma 36:3  And now, O my son Helaman, behold, thou art in thy youth, and therefore, I beseech of thee that thou wilt hear my words and learn of me; for I do know that whosoever shall put their ^atrust in God shall be supported in their ^btrials, and their troubles, and their afflictions, and shall be ^clifted up at the last day.

 

And Jade is 16.  She isn't sure she believes in God so we suggested that she prays to know.  She has been praying for 4 weeks now and still hasn't received (or recognized) an answer.  She said that she will try to continue.  :/  And Elder Holland,,, that was honestly all he had time to talk about the Book of Mormon.  Read 1 Nephi 1 (see below) and see how it relates to Joseph Smith. 

 

Outline:

Prophet→Prays→Vision→Savior (sees)→Book (records)→Fate of the world→Anger→Kills the Prophets (tries/does)→This happens to all the prophets.

 

The Book of Mormon truly is a book of revelation!

"Oct. 31^st—It’s Halloween and Temple Square closed at 5pm.   For dinner, Temple Square Mission went to the COB (Church Office Building) and used the cafeteria area to enjoy lasagna and a salad from Olive Garden.  Sister Poulsen also passed out candy to all the Sisters.  After dinner we walked over to the Salt Lake Temple for the 7pm Session.  It was wonderful to see everyone in white inside the temple all together.  Many temple hugs were exchanged in the Celestial Room as well as loving conversation.  It was a wonderful evening!"

1 Nephi 1

 1 I, Nephi, having been ^aborn of ^bgoodly ^cparents, therefore I was ^dtaught somewhat in all the learning of my father; and having seen many ^eafflictions in the course of my days, nevertheless, having been highly favored of the Lord in all my days; yea, having had a great knowledge of the goodness and the mysteries of God, therefore I make a ^frecord of my proceedings in my days.

The letter I received in the mail this week:

Mom,
I just wanted to say THANK YOU!  If it wasn't for you and dad I wouldn't be here.  I wouldn't be where I am at today!  I know that this experience has and will change the rest of my life.  Thank you for loving me, for raising me in the gospel, for encouraging me, for helping me see my worth and MORE!  God is ALWAYS aware of us! He knows the desires of our hearts.  Eight weeks will go by fast and then I get to come home and apply ALL the things that I have learned.  I know that I am awful at writing but I will share EVERYTHING when I get home!

I guess she is serious about not emailing me a letter!  She is going to write me a letter today and send it. So,, I guess you will (hopefully) get to hear it next week! “While Sister Wu (Hong Kong) played sacred hymns on the piano everyone sat reverently waiting for  Apostle Jeffrey R. Holland to join us in our Relief Society this morning.  Everyone arose from bed earlier so we could be in our seats in Theater 1 at SVC, at 6:45am. 

Elder Holland extended his love to us by having each one of us file past him so he could shake our hand as we told him our name and where we were from.  He later told us that he didn’t do that so he could learn our name or try to remember where we were from, but it was a quick interview to look into our eyes and feel of our spirit.  As we each filed past him Sister Wu continued her quiet playing that added to the spirit of the meeting. Elder Holland thanked us for our service and went on to teach us about the Book of Mormon and why it is the keystone of our religion. It was wonderful to learn from the teachings of an apostle.” 

Sister Tuckett said:  "He talked about the Book of Mormon! it was so good! "The Book of Mormon is Revelation about Revelation!" And that Salvation cannot come without Revelation."  

 

 

 

Mission Blog:

 

Oct. 24th

Temple Sq. Sisters had eight weeks to prepare for the 5K challenge. The challenge was accepted with excitement and a desire to become more fit, healthy and energetic so that we can be more effective missionaries on Temple Square! President Harmon “Socked it to us” by providing everyone with their first pair of running socks so as to avoid those nasty blisters we all hate. Our theme became:

"FIT FOR THE KINGDOM".

We could choose our pace; to run, walk/jog, or just walk.  Our route was around the Utah Capitol building, down Gravity Hill and through the Canyon. Very scenic!!  It all ended with a great breakfast bash at Brigham Young Park.

She said she was drinking water and was mid swallow!
